Spring, 18th Turn, 11th Pass

Upcoming Flights:
Red Cyanide

Upcoming Hatchings:
Amber Era

Western Hold welcomes new blood in the form of a young couple, Lord Holder Basasius and Lady Holder Baria. A grand Gather is being hosted by Western Hold to welcome their new Lord and Lady.

While the new Lords settle into Western there has been talk and speculation about the western continent's other Hold. It has been two turns since his wife's passing in the south, when will Lord Callum decide to take up a new wife?

Spring has woken an abundance of plant life across Pern with intermittent spring showers helping to sate the growth's never ending thirst. With the end of snow and cold comes Thread once more; Dalibor's wings have no doubt been reduced due to losses over the winter but none the less they persevere.

A schedule and a map of the regular patrols are posted at all times in the atrium of the wherhandler quarters. Patrols are to be maintained even during home turf Threadfall. If a prideleader or pridesecond is scheduled to patrol during a fall, they will designate a substitute to take their place so they may fulfill their duties.

Patrol routes are broken up into categories that control how and who walks those shifts. The whole schedule is broken up into seven day rotations, with each handler getting a rest day.

Ranging Patrol
These are the HUGE routes that tend to be more perilous; each shift has two handlers walking from each end of the route, meeting in the center for a short briefing, and then continuing on the way their partner came from to finish at the opposite end. Only subqueen/king and up whers walk these routes.
The times for these shift are as follows:
Dusk (1st - 8pm to 1am)
Dawn (2nd - 1 am to 6am)

North Outer Weyr East (NOW-E)
North Outer Weyr West (NOW-W)

West Outer Weyr South (WOW-E)
West Outer Weyr North (WOW-N)

East Outer Weyr South (EOW-S)
East Outer Weyr North (EOW-N)

Home Patrol
Similar to the normal Ranging Patrol shifts in that it is patrolled from opposite ends twice a night, these patrols are walked in teams of two, and are generally on the South side of the outer Weyr.
The times for these shift are as follows:
Dusk (1st - 8pm to 1am)
Dawn (2nd - 1 am to 6am)

Rotating Patrol
Strictly inside the Weyr, these patrols are not on an exact schedule; instead, there are four different starting times staggered 2-3 hours apart. Usually handlers go straight from one rotation to a rotation on a different route, and can be walked singly or in pairs.
The times for these shift rotations are as follows:
Dusk (1st – 8pm to 11 pm)
Evening (2nd – 11 pm to 1:30 am)
Mid (3rd – 1:30am to 4am)
Dawn (4th – 4am to 6:30 am)

During Threadfall, handlers are required to wear both the badge of Dalibor and the badge of their pride. On regular patrols, handlers are required only to wear the badge of Dalibor, but they are also required to wear a cloth armband of their patrol route's designated colour for ease of coordination as well as recognition.
