Winter, 18th Turn, 11th Pass
While not unnatural in its violence, the dual hatching of Copper Queens Laanasuth, and Zelsk, has brought many changes Pernwide to the Dragon Candidate program. Raising the Age of Candidacy, and laying more rigorous emotional requirements on those admitted into the program and permitted to stay after. Dalibor has settled into an easy peace with the hatching fading into memory and young dragonets and wherets visible as they come into their own.
Included in their ranks are two colours new to Pern. Indigo dragons, and Pink whers, as well as Dalibor's first instance of a dual-bonded Wherhandler. As always, the West seems eager to produce weirdness for the rest of Pern.
Curiously, a steady flow of messengers seem to be traveling between Grove and Dalibor Weyr during the early sevendays of the new season; which is already proving to be milder than some in Dalibor's recent history.

Cairenn watched her aunt's face as she explained her feelings and her actions, cracks in the recently-repaired mask of calm she wore opening again as the edges of her mouth twitched slightly, and her eyes became wet with tears once more. She did not completely break down, but her mask of control was clearly on the edge of shattering and tears flowed freely out of the corners of her eyes as Roselle finished her speech, and she put down her pie to embrace her aunt, her control finally relenting as she buried her head in her aunt's shoulder, whispering between sobs, "I'm sorry, Roselle, I... I did not realize. It was just s-such a shock to have you v-vanish from my life, with no explanation, I dwelt on it for so long, and I-I just accepted that you had abandoned me... that y-you had decided that you couldn't be a part of my life alongside Ingoth. N-Now things are so different for me, I-I don't know what to do... I d-don't want to lose you, or Rosian, I love you b-both too much."
Finally breaking the hug, her tears leaving a damp spot on Roselle's shoulder, her eyes puffy and red-rimmed, she asked, "Can you give me a chance? When I say that Ingoth can be trusted, that she sees you as part of her pack and would never hurt you, or Rosian, or C'ian... can you trust me? Can we be a family again?"
In the fields outside the Hold, Ingoth had landed and began her meal, nodding slightly at Tserieth's mindwords. "Yours is far from the first, or only, to not forgive me for my actions as a hatchling, when I knew no better and my hunger overwhelmed my mind. No matter, she is still important to Mine, and so she is still part of my pack, despite her feelings towards me."
To Tserieth's question, she seemed to think for a moment, then replied, "Ever since I hatched, I have always felt a natural bond to the concept of a pack... that a group will succeed where an individual would be overwhelmed, the strength of a group to watch over each other, to help each other. My pack includes all my clutchsiblings, yourself, Yours, Yours' hatchling, Yours' mate, his bonded, and of course Mine. I have not had much chance outside of lessons and training to find others worthy of being a part of it, yet."@Ivy
said M'rio, as if running the word over his tongue to test its flavor, "A lovely name for a lovely maiden. Truly, the pleasure is all mine."
M'rio had only come to do some clothes shopping, but it appeared he might come away with a bed partner as well... a fine haul, indeed, he thought to himself. Accepting her arm in his, he smirked and replied, "You have already determined my style after so short a time, have you? Are you a Weaver, perhaps, or just have a natural eye for things? Either way, I shall indulge you... lead the way, I feel you have had more time here to know where best to find something better suited to me."
