Upcoming Flights/Runs:

Upcoming Hatchings:
Copper Laanasuth
Copper Zelsk

With two clutches hardening on the Hatching Sands the big question seemed to be: which will hatch first?

The answer came in short order with Copper Zelsk's clutch breaking shell moments before Copper Laanasuth's. With so many eggs surely the dual hatching offers hope to the numerous Candidates who fill Dalibor's ranks. Only time will show who will come away with a lifemate of their very own...

... and who will forfeit their life in hopes of Impression.

Spring was here! And Uonai couldn't be kept contained any longer! She'd finished her chores, finished up with lessons and was happy to enjoy the sun and faint hint of warmth that was seeping into the bowl. Not the mention the FLOWERS!

She'd already gathered a small pile and collapsed to the ground, setting about chaining them together to make a crown. She had nothing else to do and dinner was still several candlemarks away. So, flower crown seemed the perfect way to pass the time. Maybe she could talk some cute boy into wearing it...

That would be a later adventure. She didn't bother having her sights set on anyone. Candidacy didn't lend itself to romance for the obvious reasons. And while Uonai would flirt shamelessly, it didn't ever go anywhere. Maybe once she was a rider... That was a problem for the future, however.

Now was a matter of making sure she had enough flowers! And figuring out where Unai had gotten to. They always found one another, even without intending to. It was, Uonai was convinced, some magical twin thing.

Unai sighed with relief when the final parts of her most recent chore was finished. She didn't mind lessons but chores were the pits. She'd never really liked them and always relished the moment they were finished. Slapping the dust from her fingers, she gave a small smile to the other candidate in the room before leaving. Why bother telling them exactly where she was going or that she was leaving? It was rather obvious after all. Now that she was done she could go have her free time. Time she was going to spend doing what ever she wanted.

Her direction towards the weyrbowl was unerring and she never deviated until she caught sight of her sister. She couldn't help the chuckle that escaped from her usually serious mouth. Uonai was surrounded by flowers and Unai shook her head in amusement. She shouldn't have been surprised that her sunny and outgoing sister was surrounded by piles of spring flowers. She flopped down next to her twin and stole a flower from her fingers to shove behind her ear. "Making a crown for the princess?" she asked with a grin, "Or the queen?" It was up to Uonai to decide who was the princess and who was the queen, though Unai had her own ideas of who was who.

"Just for me," Uonai replied with a smile at her twin, knowing full well that whichever she chose would be wrong and there was no winning. "Maybe you, if you behave." She stuck her tongue out at her, settling back in to knotting the flowers together and adding extras so it looked full and appropriately pretty. Most of the flowers were weeds, but wildflowers were sprinkled here and there for emphasis. It was the sort of thing children in the creche did and she frequently settled down to do it with said weyrbrats, but doing it on her own was a relaxing break from the usual chores.

"Catch a break in the schedule, too? I think we have kitchen duty together tomorrow." Uonai was always happy when she got any chore with her sister. Aside from the fact that she was one of the few that could put up with Unai.

She tossed the crown at Unai's head, grinning when it landed crooked and started to slide off. She set about making a second one, for herself, of course. "Get me some of those little white ones near you, please." She pointed to the requested flowers and began knotting the ones she had together. "Maybe we can find a cute boy to give it to." Not that it would really matter, but they could flirt, right?

Unai snorted softly at Uonai's answer. It hadn't been the one she was looking for, one that could give her an excuse to grouse and complain, instead Uonai had given her the one she would have complained for. Being a twin was fun and not, all at the same time. "When have I ever behaved?" she asked with a chuckle and leaned forward to threaten to flick the tongue her sister stuck out at her. Any idea of a bad mood was instantly lifted with the silliness of her sister, Uonai always had a way of lifting Unai's spirits.

"I did and we do," she answered, leaning over to grab another flower, deciding to create her own crown of flowers. Not that Uonai had given her much to work with, mostly just weeds but Unai would make do. She usually did and she wasn't about to take that happy smile off her twins face by saying so. Setting her own flowers in her lap, Unai snatched the flowers her sister asked for and handed them to her. "Better to give them to some of the creche kids," she admonished, "Wouldn't want some cute boy to get an over inflated head now would we?"

Unai never could understand her sisters obsession with the opposite sex. She liked boys just fine, girls too if she was honest with herself, but she never went out of her way to make them aware of it. She had far more important things to do than try to impress the idiot boys in the weyr. "Who do you think's going to lay the next clutch?" she asked suddenly, "Queen or sub? Think we'll impress this time?" She had no illusions that they would impress at the same time, dragonets had a mind of their own, but Unai could hope. How fun would it be to be in the same weyrling class?

"When someone is watching," Uonai pointed out with a smug look. She was almost always behaved, mostly because getting into trouble wasn't something she was overly fond of. She could do everything she wanted without breaking the rules. Rules were things she rarely would have considered doing anyway. Don't sleep with anyone? Well, okay. Everyone knew you didn't do that as a candidate. It put your hatching at risk if you became a weyrling. It was a matter of preparation for the future. Which seemed to be the nature of most rules.

"Creche kids are cute in their own way. I don't know who I'd give it to anyway." She sighed almost wistfully and shrugged. "Kids it is, then. They'll appreciate them more anyway!" She grinned fiercely and set about weaving flowers again. "We should find some pink ones. Or those little yellow ones. I like them." Nodding to herself, she paused in her work to reach across and pick a small handful of little white flowers and dropped them in her lap. "How many do you think we should make? It would be easier if we got some of them to help make their own crowns. Or at least get more hands." Not that she would move from her comfortable spot to go hunt anyone down to help them. That was asking too much. She just wanted to enjoy her free time with some flowers.

She grimaced at Uonai's smug tone. She couldn't argue with that. The only time Unai was really nice to another person was when someone higher up the food chain than her was watching. But the candidate could pretend. She was good at pretending to be nice to people. How else would she have a hoard of people to blame her bubblypie snitching on? Much like Uonai, Unai didn't like to get in trouble but she wasn't above flouting the rules, rules could be bent just a little, and Unai always had a backup plan.

"Creche kids are cuter than boys," Unai agreed, "There might be a little girl who could use a flower crown. She's been a bit sad lately. You could brighten her day." Unai might be persuaded to make her own flower crowns to give to the creche children if she could get them to smile. Unai always did have a soft spot for the kids in the creche. Probably because she had been one. Knew how it was to have no real parents. Maybe she felt a little sorry for them. Who knew.

She shrugged, "Ten? I haven't counted the 'brats lately. We could go get them? I bet the creche workers wouldn't mind if we brought the lot of them out to the sunshine." Probably pay them to, buut Unai didn't say that out loud. The creche workers were over worked as much as most drudges and some of those kids were wild. "Heck they'd probably throw us a party if we gave the 'brats a fieldtrip," she continued, "Want to go get them?"
