Dalibor is a semi-canon Dragonriders of Pern site. No knowledge of the series or site is required to join; players of all experience levels are welcome here. Founded in 2008 on Proboards and moved to Jcink in 2013, Dalibor has been running for eight years.
Spring, 18th Turn, 11th Pass
Western Hold welcomes new blood in the form of a young couple, Lord Holder Basasius and Lady Holder Baria. A grand Gather is being hosted by Western Hold to welcome their new Lord and Lady.
While the new Lords settle into Western there has been talk and speculation about the western continent's other Hold. It has been two turns since his wife's passing in the south, when will Lord Callum decide to take up a new wife?
Spring has woken an abundance of plant life across Pern with intermittent spring showers helping to sate the growth's never ending thirst. With the end of snow and cold comes Thread once more; Dalibor's wings have no doubt been reduced due to losses over the winter but none the less they persevere.

As a baby and toddler, Nym almost never cried. This never changed as the turns went by. She is quite good at hiding any emotions she does have, bottling them and brushing them aside as if they don't matter. It's only half true that she doesn't care, and that she's not overly emotional. She can come across as cold and uncaring. Rather than being empathetic and trying to soothe people, she tends to be blunt and tell it like it is. Bad things happened to everyone. Better to just man up and deal with it, as it were. A tomboy, she didn't mind getting her hands dirty but hates water and getting wet outside of baths required to keep clean. She can swim, but she hates to, and so chooses not to.
Self-serving and the kind of person who is a survivor who worries most about self-preservation, Nym is pretty selfish-seeming. It's her first, and others second. No one had really done anything for her and so unless it benefits her in some way, or she's bored or just happens to already be there, she's not much one for going out of her way for anyone else. It's not like she has friends, or makes them easily. She doesn't care, though--or does she? She does get lonely, but brushes that emotion aside the same as all the rest. Feeling she was unwanted by her parents hasn't helped. If they didn't, who would? She might think she has a ton of self confidence--and she does, where her dancing, stealing, lying and sneaking around are concerned. She's good at what she does. People believed her back at High Reaches when she spoke. They also listened, because she rarely did. She had ways of getting information when she wanted it. Yet she went about unnoticed for the most part. She also has questionable morality. If it's a means to her own ends, she doesn't mind what she has to do.
It's not that she's a bad person. She wouldn't sit there and watch someone die. She would do something, even if she convinces herself it's only because she has to. She just never grew close to anyone. She always felt unimportant, and like she was merely there--or barely even, because no one noticed her much. She seems content to just 'be', and do her own thing, and be left alone. Still, it's getting old, even for her, to a degree. Having nothing and no one will eventually wear just about anyone down. She is bright, curious, and even quite fearless with her 'nothing to lose' attitude. The only time she won't step in is if her life is on the line. She is terrified at the thought of dying. The 'nothingness' that comes after isn't something she wants to ever face. So it has always been 'her first' in this regard, especially.
She loves dancing, her ability to move about in acrobatic and clever ways, and felines. She's never gotten close to girls or boys, but as someone who has never been close to anyone and never really cared, it's uncertain which she fancies. She might notice so-and-so is possessed of nice enough features. But she's young yet and doesn't care about relationships of that kind at all. She has always simply used people as a means to an end. If she did Impress, and did form relationships, a lot might change. As is, she does enjoy pulling pranks and being witty. She considers herself cunning and witty both, so there is some ego there. And pride. She has her pride, and hates to be looked down on. She doesn't take well to being chastised or insulted. She is also fairly lazy and hates to do chores. She slacks off and takes off--though it's dubious that she can do this as a candidate. She just hasn't thought about it yet. She won't be in for a nice surprise when she discovers she will actually have to!
Standing at only 4'10", Nym will only grow to be 5'2" when she's done growing at about sixteen years of age. This pleases her immensely, since she is great at blending in in a crowd and slipping away when she doesn't want to be caught or noticed. She hated her long hair and hacked it off one night and has insisted on having it short ever since. At the moment, her sides and back are shorter, and the top is kept a bit longer. When her hair is this short, it is more reddish than blond. As it grows out, it tends to become a lighter strawberry blond. Her eyes are perhaps her most noticeable feature. Wide and mostly a vibrant green, around the iris is a golden color. Her features are very feline in appearance. A nose with a wider bridge, small, gives this appearance along with the wide eyes and smaller, relatively full lipped, mouth. She has a baby-face, which will stay, yet with sharper angles, into adulthood. Her complexion is medium-white, not pale but average.
As her clothing is, at the moment, supplied by the creche, she tends to wear whatever they find her that isn't too girly. Yet when she can get her own things, she tends towards mostly black, and sometimes grey. She'll still wear darker shades of other colors, though. She tends to like chokers, leather, and wher-hide. Skin tight but flexible clothing with knee-high boots and fingerless gloves as well as a black wher-hide jacket, with goggles and a black, collar-like choker will be her primary ensemble when she's older.

Inspirational, easy-going, reckless. This pillie is determined to help his bonded become the best she can be, in his easy-going way. Though he will need to be taught to think before he acts sometimes, since he doesn't always do that when he should.

Pan is a curious creature, but very much a one person creature. He will not allow others to touch him, save perhaps those closest to Nym. He is constantly with the girl, never straying far from her side, always her fierce little protector despite his size. He can be mischievous, getting into things he should not, but for a pine marten, he is well behaved. He seems to have an understanding with his person, and will do tricks and would be wonderful for hunting if she decided to use him for it. She carries him on her person most of the time, even while flying with Echith. The only place he would not accompany her is into Threadfall, for she would not risk him. When he is not with her, she feels the loss of his presence. He is as close to her as any creature with a stronger telepathic bond would be.

Nym never knew either of her parents. She was left at the creche with only a name. Living at High Reaches, she lived the life of a weyrbrat. Her parents never had anything to do with her, so she never knew who they were. She was always a strange one, though. As a child she almost never cried. She was quiet and seemed to like watching people. She proved to be bright enough but didn't seem to really care for the learning much. Often her attention seemed to be elsewhere. She didn't really make friends easily. She didn't much care to, and seemed more interested in asking questions and having the answers to them, and keeping herself occupied. She liked knowing what was what at the Weyr, and who was who.
The only living being she got close to was an older feline with one eye, a torn ear, and half a tail. He was black, and she named him Mookie when she was seven turns old and he became her first real friend--as much as a feline could be. He followed her everywhere and she fed him. No one objected to it. He didn't belong to anyone, and she figured no one wanted him. She found she didn't much care for canines or runners...but felines? They were sneaky and smart, just like her! Especially Mookie. She was sure he understood everything she said to him. She would talk to him for hours, in a way she didn't talk to anyone else. People did worry about the unnaturally aloof and curious girl. She was strange, really, as she never seemed to want anything to do with anyone, and yet also seemed to be everywhere and nowhere, seen out of the corners of people's eyes only to have them wondering if she'd been there at all. She did ask a lot of questions, though, and the way she watched a person was a little unsettling.
It wasn't known to her that she hadn't been wanted. She wanted so badly to know who her parents were. To know she mattered to someone. Only she didn't. She figured no one really cared much about her. She was just some kid that had been left for the creche. Just a number among the weyrbrats at High Reaches. She vowed she was going to be something. Someone. Obviously it was her right to Stand, as a child of the Weyr. When she turned twelve, that was exactly what she planned to do. She had a lot of 'street-smarts' as it was. She also had questionable morals. She lied where it suited and there wasn't anyone in particular she was close to, so watched out for number one: herself. She had no issues snooping about where she ought not. No problem stealing, either, if there was something she wanted.
The only thing she really loved was dancing and movement in general. Lithe, small and flexible, she had been dancing as long as she could walk. She might've had a very lovely voice, but she never let anyone hear that. Just like crying and showing too much emotion were things she didn't do, so was not letting anyone hear her sing. She enjoyed testing herself, and seeing how agile or limber she could be. Acrobatics were fun! Climbing and finding ways to move around quickly, that was fun too. Similar to parkour, she enjoyed making her way about in uncanny ways. It suited her for when she wanted to get away, or if she wanted to sneak about and snoop. Spying on people worked pretty good if you could be up higher than they were. Dancing was her biggest passion, and she didn't care who saw or what they thought. It was fairly common to see 'the dancing girl' dancing her way across the Weyrbowl of High Reaches.
Her first hatching at High Reaches saw her un-mauled, but also left Standing. It didn't bother her much--rarely anything did, and this less than many things. She had a long time to Impress, and if she was honest with herself, she didn't know whether she cared if she did or not...
She couldn't stay out of trouble forever. Soon people began to notice things going missing. She was terrified of being caught, and they were starting to suspect her. So, she decided when she was twelve she would ask to be transferred. She had hardly anything to her name, and so taking her clothes and leaving was no big deal to her. She wasn't leaving anything behind. No friends. No family. Nothing. Mookie had passed away only a few months before, and it had been the first time she had cried that she could remember in forever. For the feline, she'd hidden herself away and shed tears. She had buried him and made him a little grave on her own. She figured she was an adult, since she was twelve, and could take care of herself when she got to the new Weyr.
When she asked for a transfer, stating she wanted a change of scenery and was bored. Since transfers were allowed to anyone, the request was met, and she was on her way to Dalibor Weyr via dragon-back the next day. She plans to Stand as a candidate here, too, but little does she know that fate has other plans in store for her: she decided that she didn't want to be a dragon candidate once she turned thirteen, and instead became a wher candidate. She never did care much for flying, and preferred to keep to the ground. Night was her time, not daytime. Whers were just more to her calling, in the end. She felt they were somehow a bit darker, wilder, and more like her.

Couineth x Baihujinth
Echith isn’t the most outgoing of dragons. Often, he will choose to have His bonded relay what he is thinking or wanting to say rather than say it aloud himself. He will move carefully, worrying about falling over or being clumsy. Even though he is quiet and somewhat cautious, he is encouraging of His and does what he can to help. He is emotionally intelligent and highly empathetic. With a deep understanding of other people and their feelings, Echith will go out of his way to try to help them all the while not allowing them to know it was he who did this. This even extends to his bonded. Echith is selfless and considerate, simply enjoying watching other people enjoy gifts rather than wanting the glory for himself. He just loves seeing other people happy.
Echith does not like picking fights with others but can sometimes rise to a taunt, suddenly have an outburst and start a fight but then worry about what he has done. Echith can be judgemental too. He believes in the best of people but will then become disappointed when people let him down. It can affect the black rather deeply. That said he is not dour or somber, Echith does have a childish sense of humour and can rather enjoy the odd prank as long as everyone involved is happy. He loves his bonded deeply but will sometimes become upset if either he or his bonded is let down. He has high expectations for his bonded.
Echith also finds pillies absolutely fascinating. He would love to have them all around him but understands he cannot live in the water (sadly). Echith loves digging and getting into burrows. Fortunately he is small enough that this is somewhat possible. At least more so than some larger dragons. He will use his longer nose and angled head to stuff his face into small holes and take a look around. If he feels threatened he will immediately try to dig a hole or curl into a ball, claws positioned in a way that they are almost sticking out of his body.
Echith likes to weirdly ‘slurp’ his food or lap it up with his tongue. It is quite something to watch him eat. He has a ‘checkerboard’ hide which stands out like a sore thumb. He will be one of the most recognisable blacks in the Weyr for this reason. Unfortunately, he doesn’t much appreciate this recognition.
