Upcoming Flights/Runs:

Upcoming Hatchings:

While not unnatural in its violence, the dual hatching of Copper Queens Laanasuth, and Zelsk, has brought many changes Pernwide to the Dragon Candidate program. Raising the Age of Candidacy, and laying more rigorous emotional requirements on those admitted into the program and permitted to stay after. Dalibor has settled into an easy peace with the hatching fading into memory and young dragonets and wherets visible as they come into their own.

Included in their ranks are two colours new to Pern. Indigo dragons, and Pink whers, as well as Dalibor's first instance of a dual-bonded Wherhandler. As always, the West seems eager to produce weirdness for the rest of Pern.

Curiously, a steady flow of messengers seem to be traveling between Grove and Dalibor Weyr during the early sevendays of the new season; which is already proving to be milder than some in Dalibor's recent history.

Tilihala was sitting at the water's edge. It was one of her moments of free time, since she had finished the washing and hung it to dry already in the fading sunlight. She stared at the lake. It was cold now, her fingers still felt the numbing feeling of cold that touched it. But it still held that warmth on the surface. She considered a moment before finding a place to strip down. Once out of eyesight she was stripped down to a pair of shorts and a shirt. It didn't take long to go from a run and into the lake. It was safe with the pillies around, so there was no need to worry, right? Besides, she stayed in a safe place, close to shore for the most part.

The water was cold and pushed all the way through her skin and down into her bones. Her long brown hair flowed out behind her as she began to swim. "Wash away the pain, and wash away the grime." She sang to herself as she swam. It was a light song, following one of the many tunes she had heard in the Weyr as a child. She never claimed to be any good at lyrics, but she did love to sing through her day. "Wash away the memories and wash away the time." She thought of her father as she took that little swim. He had been her everything, and he was gone now.

She would probably struggle with his death her whole life, but she was ready to move on. He hadn't wanted her to be a rider, and so she had obstained, for him. And now he was gone, there was no reason to respect that wish any longer. She sighed softly as she paddled back, and emerged from the lake, to shake off the water from her skin and clothes she had worn under her work outfit.

Tili looked up as she heard a voice and darted her eyes around. Shards, had someone seen her?

Wa'i heard singing.

That was enough to lure him in. He had a good enough ear to spot a decent voice and he hunted it down easily enough and he soon spotted the young woman in the lake. He waited for her to finish singing, then added his own lines:

"Wash away the suffering, wash away the weight. Wash away the filth and wash away the hate." He had a smooth baritone voice that carried easily. He stopped at the water's edge, smiling and settling his arm on his hip. "You have a lovely voice," he offered with a polite bob of his head. "Pity the harpers didn't find you before the dragons did." He winked, clearly joking. He wouldn't deny anyone the right to a dragon, even if it just meant standing once or twice, as many crafters did. Giving up a passion for a potential was hard. Wa'i knew that well, though he had his dragon.

You're still a harper, too. Brevidith reminded him from afar. Wa'i could vaguely feel the dragon's gaze on him from his spot on the rocks high above, catching all the sun he could. Yes, but the choice is not so easy for some. He reminded the burgundy with a smile.

"Wa'i of burgundy Brevidith," he introduced himself, belatedly realizing he'd been standing there in silence as he spoke to his dragon.

Tili nearly jumped at the voice, even more so at the fact that he was adding lines to a song she had started singing out of nowhere and just made up as she went. She turned a shade of red, it wasn't any voice either, it was a male's Baritone, shards, a man! She practically shrunk in on herself, which was hard to do at her height. She didn't know what to say, especially once he complimented her voice.

"Thanks." She sputtered out, her reply rather quick. Oh, it was staring, the talking very quickly that came around any time a male was near her. She didn't want to be around them, didn't want anything to do with them. No way, boys led to trouble, and if they didn't they were causing it. "Harpers didn't have a chance to find me, I was born in Telgar Weyr." She said in a rapid tone. "I was pretty much born to be a rider, and I'm not good enough to be Harper, I just like to make up songs when do chores or things like swimming? "She said, ducking behind a bush to find her clothes and slip them back on. Too much flesh exposed, men liked flesh! She'd heard them snicker about it many times!

She peeked out once she was clothed. Don't show them weakness, that was how they got you. She cleared her throat, the moment of silence a bit deafening with the beating of her heart in her ears. What could this man possibly be thinking? Was he thinking lewd things? Not with her, never, no way. She was also a candidate, and that was a strict no no. At least she was saved by that fact.

"Tilihala, formerly of Telgar Weyr, currently of Dalibor Weyr." She said, her voice going all quick again. What did he want? Conversation was bad, but she was safe right, hidden behind candidacy. Yeah, she was safe. For the most part. "I was just, you know, messing around with a song, nothing really to compliment." She said, her blue eyes complimented by the blue tunic she wore.
