Summer, 18th Turn, 11th Pass

Upcoming Flights:
Green Jasmith

Upcoming Hatchings:
Red Cyanide

Slightly chilly spring days slowly but surely grow warmer as spring gives way to summer. Already the season is proving to be an unseasonably warm one, thankfully breezes have been common giving some relief. Dalibor's denizens can be found frequenting the Weyr's lake more often than in the season before, soaking up all of Rukbat's warm rays while they last.

Though not as common as the springtime there are lingering showers that come and go; thunderstorms are suddenly more common than they were in spring. Word is spreading that Fort Weyr has had an interesting outcome at their most recent hatching: An Orange broke shell and Impressed a genderneutral Candidate.

"I doubt you will harm me any if you do," L'aars said, finding little reason to fear for his feet. She could trod upon his toes repeatedly and it was unlikely to do more than bruise by the next day. Nice thing about sturdy, practical boots. Fashionable, no. Protective, yes. Frayya may have coaxed him into the green under tunic, but he wasn't about to part with his boots unless given a good reason. Since he wasn't here to look fancy for Lord Holders, well, a vigorous cleaning was enough to him. Speaking of shoes, he was half-tempted to ask how long Frayya would bother wearing hers. He didn't see the point in being in pain for the sake of fashion, but that wasn't his choice to make.

Mindful of her belly, he guided their dance, peeking at the floor now and then with a small smile quirking at his lips. He couldn't see her feet either. That amused him in a way. Little things. One grew to notice and consider said little things when a person practically lived with you. Certainly, they had their own spaces, but neither was quick to push the other out when night came. It was a satisfying mix of companionship and independence, both free to do as they needed, mindful of the other's dedication to their work. They likely wouldn't keep so close, let emotions become involved, if not for that mutual respect. He would never ask Frayya to lay aside her Craft or responsibilities. She hadn't yet asked him to stop going on missions for the weyr (like the jungle expedition) despite the danger involved. They were hardworking people. Likely lost without said work.

"Hm. I haven't checked, but I doubt it," L'aars murmured. He liked Benden Red, could anyone blame him for keeping a bottle in his weyr? He wrapped an arm about her shoulders as the song drew to an end. It was an event of romance. Public displays of affection the norm. Amazing the changes a little anonymity brought out in people.

Outside, Jaireth was very much distracted by Sixwith.

Normally she wasn't this insistent. He had nothing better to do, so he followed, amused by the Tan as she bespoke of the ocean and sky meeting. 'Show me.' Jaireth rumbled, his wingbeats churning in a lazy tempo.

Zen chuckled at Zaela's reticence. She was just a little shy and there was no need. Her stiff posture and abrasive tone were met with gentleness. His hands ghosting to her shoulder and hip so as not to spook her or seem improper. "A little closer, m'lady," he teased. She was standing so far away, their pose awkward at best. "I'll guide you through the steps, do not worry." Zeniro pulled her towards him just enough so that he had a good control over their movement. That way he could literally walk her through the steps if he must. "Ah, perfect. A new song has just begun."

It wasn't a slow song, but as a Harper, he had impeccable sense of time. His ear attuned to rhythm in such a way that he could dissect it apart. Half time, sluggish even for a learning student, but she asked to go slow. One step, a murmured word, another step, a nudge of his hand. Zen attempted to teach her the cues a following partner should know. How to read a partner. When he leaned forward, felt a certain pressure from his hand on her shoulder, when his own shoulders turned...He was a patient, cheery teacher. Whether Zaela had the patience for him was another matter. But he was earnest in his attempt to help her enjoy this dance with him.
