Tienna was tired, tired of other smaller firelizards having flights while she had to wait for turns at a time before she felt that she would rise again, but the wait was over of course much to Tarele’s relief most likely. It wasn’t like there was little prior notice for the flight to have happened, in fact Tarele probably wished that Tienna gave a little less notice considering just how irritable the Orange was when she started getting close to a flight.

Positively glowing the Orange darted out of the door cracked open enough for her to pass thanks to Tarele, Tienna calling out a challenge to the firelizards of the wherhandlers which were more likely to be up in this early spring night. Of course Tienna wasn’t expecting just wherhandler firelizards to join in though she felt that those were the ones most likely to be up and active this late but she made another challenging call once she was out of the wherhandlers’ quarter and in the Weyrbowl.

Quickly gaining altitude she awaited her first suitor, of hopefully many, to catch up though if there wasn’t a satisfying turn out and/or the males on offer weren’t to her liking she wasn’t above bringing in her fairmates especially Imalven if only because he was a King. She after all felt at least in terms of flights Tarele’s wishes, for her not to choose one of her fairmates, was less important than her finding a mate that was up to her standards.

Skan was awake and alert. Being bonded to a wherhandler did make him at least partly nocturnal most of the time. Of course, he didn't have to be used to the dark to notice the bright orange flash that took to the sky. He gave a little flit grin and stretched his body. Time to show everyone how great he was!

Spreading his wings, Skan took to the sky. He whistled to Tienna as he rose up after her. What a lovely lady she was! He did a little twirl in the air for her benifit. He did consider himself quite handsome, but that was for her to decide. He did hope he wouldn't be the only male to come. Showing off was so much better when he had a larger audience.

Unlike Tienna and Skan, Drahaus and Whiting were both dreadfully asleep when the call to Rise came. The black was very much sleeping deeply, having stayed up fairly late that day trying to pilfer new shiny and fancy objects to add to his hoard. Whiting, the blue, however, was a fairly light sleeper, and the smallest thing would wake him up. In this case, a mid-sleep cough from His startled him into high-alert. He creeled quietly, scuttling over to where Krysthanine lay and sniffing at her nervously. Was Big Mom okay? WAS SHE DYING??? Oh no oh no oh- oh. Big Mom was just asleep. Okay. Whiting creeled again, quieter, and was going to fall back to sleep if it weren’t for the shrill call of a female that graced his ears.

The small blue turned to the exit of his home, to the source of the call. Wide eyes, once a shocking orange against his hide, flushed reddish purple, with hints of orange and yellow still dancing in the facets. Without a further sound, Whiting splayed his wings wide and took to the air, snagging a nice-looking pebble from his younger brother’s stash on his way out. He was old, older than the Orange that he was now zooming towards, so he was used to Flights. Didn’t make them any less scary. He’s seen maulings happen, he’s seen disappointment happen, and worst of all, he’s seen Drahaus win instead of him. BOO. This time, though, it was just him, and OH FARANTH THAT’S A BRONZE. That’s a big ol’ bronze. What was he doing. He was Chasing an Orange against a Bronze and he was going to die tonight he just KNEW IT.

Yes he was afraid. Terrified. It was in his nature. But that only meant that he would work even harder to make sure that he had a chance at winning, because then the sooner he won, the sooner all of this scary Flight stuff would be over. Yes. Somehow, by some stroke of fate, Whiting managed to muster up the courage to trumpet his arrival to the pretty Orange, a loud, proud trumpet.

Whether that was a death sentence for him or not, he didn’t know. And at this point, it was too late to find out.

Four other firelizards heard Tienna's call once she hit the 'bowl and responded to it.

The first male was Bonzo, a young Bronze bonded to one of the younger Weyrbrats. He'd first heard the young Orange's call while she was still underground, and began his pursuit then. First, though, rubbed his head against Tarzlo's cheek, to reassure the small boy that he'd guarded since they were both hatchlings that he'd be back soon. Then the Bronze took after the glowing star, ready to show off his flying skills for her. He caught up to her a few moments after she entered the Weyrbowl and took his place with the others who arrived for the queen.

The second was a young Purple bonded to one of the younger Pinkriders. Cardinal normally didn't chase after queens, or any female, really. None could match the beauty and charm of HisJasjitta, after all, so why should pursue those who were clearly lesser than her? Comments and gossips from the other males in his good-sized fair, plus the reoccurring flights from his fair's females, convinced him to sometimes give such things a go. This particular night, though, something about this little queen called to him, so he left HisJasjitta behind in her bed and surrounded by the rest of the fair, and started the chase. This Orange would be the first female he chased that wasn't already part of his fair, so for him, there'd be some novelty for him in this, at least.

The last two males came from the same weyr, though they were bonded to two different people. One was the Yellow male, Basher, who was an old hand at chasing the females. In the decade he'd been bonded to HisG'len, he picked up a few tricks for wooing the females and making them see him in a good light. This night, he was escorting a young Brown male, Strong Guy, and trying to show the headstrong male a few tips for wooing the ladies, since the Brown had had poor luck with such things in his first few flights. The adventures he had with HisLerian didn't always lend themselves to such things, after all. Older Weyrbrats didn't have such interests as wooing partners, normally. So the two males quickly joined the gather flock of males in hot pursuit of the Orange, eager to prove themselves worthy of her attentions tonight.

@Rowana @Aika @Tigersilk

Tienna didn’t have to worry about having to call in the males from her own fair just to have a male to catch her, with several males joining in her flight one after the other. First off was Skan, a Bronze something that Tienna was happy about if only because there was a fairly large male that was interested in her and her flight at least for the moment though he also didn’t want to give him any ideas. The next was Whiting, a Blue that looked about as skittish as the Blue pillie that she lived with so aside from what she hoped was some verbal encouragement to the Blue she didn’t pay much attention to him for the moment.

Next was a Bonzo a Bronze like the first suitor joining in on the flight during the time between heading out and entering the Weyrbowl acknowledging the Bronze though little else for the time being. The next wasn’t really known for chasing after females, something that the Orange was impressed by with just how many other females there were around the Weyr and managed to avoid the temptation of chasing. The last two that joined in so far was an experienced Yellow (male of course) and a Brown, though she appreciated their presence the Orange didn’t have much to say about either of them at least at this point.

Tienna waited to see if there was going to be any more males that were going to join in initially, there could of course be males that showed up late, but Tienna didn’t see much point in waiting ascending as quickly as possible for her. Let’s see just what each male would do to win her favour, aside from attacking one of the males, attacking her, or trying to forcibly catch her.

Skan was devilishly pleased to see the other males join the chase. Winning was so much better with competition. If he won, of course. He was confident, but he did know he could never control a female's mind. He would do his best to impress them though and he could do flashy and impressive.

With a gleeful, challenging cry, Skan flew higher. The other males didn't scare him. There was even a blue! He toyed with the idea of trying to scare the timid fighter, but dismissed it in the end. He was here for Tienna, after all. And she seemed content to wait and see how they would impress her. With a little grin, Skan trilled adoringly at her in the hopes of grabbing her attention. Then he did a wide loop-de-loop, ending with his wings spread wide. Was he not handsome?

She made a sound at him. A SOUND. That’s more than what half the females he usually Chased gave him. Whiting’s wings beat a bit harder, and he puffed his chest out a bit – but not too much because shard it all THERES MORE MALES AND THEY’RE ALL BIGGER THAN HIM. The blue’s eyes became a beautiful kaleidoscope of Flight, unbridled rage, and absolute defeat. What even was going through his head? Even he didn’t know, to be honest. All he knew was that Tienna was PRETTY and said a HOPEFULLY NICE thing to him and he has a SHINY ROCK unlike all the other suitors that pursued.

But before he could properly introduce his gift, she was off! And the first BigBronze was already in hot pursuit, with a trick to boot! With an indignant (and entirely unmanly) squeak, he took off after the sparking Orange as well, mustering up the courage to loose yet another trumpet, an echo of Skan’s challenge. He was gonna take BigBronze up on his offer to battle in the game of flattery, and he was going to win!... Hopefully. Oh Faranth, let him win. If he didn’t, he’d either be eaten by the other suitors that lost, or would have to face the shame of going home and listening to Drahaus mock him. He didn’t know which was worse.

He spun upwards into the sky, eyes trained on the Orange beauty before him. It took some extra effort on his part, but he did eventually catch up to her. With a pleased croon, he presented his shiny rock. A pretty gift for a pretty lady, no?

What did a pretty lady want her suitors to do to impress her? Bonzo thought she might like flying tricks, something he was quite good at. Or at least that was what he thought in his inexperience; the Bronze didn't chase the females as often as many other males did. But what trick? Barrow roll, that was a good one, he thought. So he did a few while flying after the glowing Orange, adding in a couple of swerves for good measure, making sure there wasn't anyone close by to run into. Would that be enough to impress the pretty lady?

Cardinal found himself at a loss. He didn't know this female, and as a consequence had no idea on how to figure out what she wanted her would-be mates to do to impress her. His fairmates he knew how to impress, but a stranger? The Purple had no gift, and the only ones who'd hear him sing were his fairmates and His, so that was out. So it would have to be some flight trick, then. He did a couple of loop-the-loops in his flight path, something his female fairmates sometimes enjoyed him doing. Would Tienna enjoy it as well?

Basher trilled encouragingly at the Orange star in front of him. She was quite beautiful, more beautiful than the stars above them were. She deserved to be among them, giving her light to all to see and admire her. What else could draw such words from a mere Yellow, after all?

For Strong Guy, he tried to impress Tienna with his strength, the one thing he figured he had that mating females might be impressed by. So with some encouragement from his elder, the Brown strove to catch up to the Orange, matching her pace and her moves once he caught up to her. After all, only a strong guy like himself could do such a thing for a pretty female, yes?

Tiennna had to give it to each of her suitors that they at least tried, which was what she was looking for since this wasn’t just a race with her not being terribly fast even for her colour unlike her smallest suitor. Skan of course was more than willing to show off his stuff to her with a loop-de-loop though his attitude left something to be desired she wasn’t exactly known for her humility either. It seemed that the Blue was bolder now with her response to him, and thought the shiny stone that he offered was tempting she was already climbing higher into the sky, but the Blue caught up and showed off his rock something that the Orange did approve of.

What Bonzo did was fairly predictable, though in all fairness she hadn’t exactly been exacting in what she wanted out of this part of the flight and it wasn’t bad by any stretch so she had to give him that. The Purple did a few loops as well, not at all bad especially considering how little experience he had with females that wasn’t part of his own fair. Basher’s flattery was something that the Orange enjoyed, well any self-respecting sub-Queen would enjoy flattery some more than others. The Brown that was chasing her decided to show how strong he was by catching up with her even though he was one of the larger colours and was generally not known for speed and it was a good show of course.

Though she had plenty of time to figure out who was going to win this flight, she knew that it would be better to decide sooner rather than later just and there wasn’t much point in seeing if there were going to be more males coming. Whiting, Basher, and Strong Guy certainly stood out with them deciding to take a somewhat more unconventional route, and though a burst of speed was nice it wasn’t something that was needed a sub-Queen flight. With some back and for in her mind though she decided on Whiting after all it was ultimately her decision, grabbing on him not about to let any of the more stubborn suitors try anything.

Whiting crooned to the bright Orange as she spun further and further into the sky. She was so pretty, prettier than many of the other females he had Chased. Then again, she was also probably the biggest flit that he Chased, so he was biased in that if he thought any less of her, he was sure he’d be dead before he could beat his wings once more. Speaking of wings, his were getting fairly tired, and the blue wasn’t entirely sure how much longer he’d be able to stay in the flight. A stirring at the back of his mind threw just enough adrenaline into his system to ignore the fatigue, though; Whiting had since decided that Drahaus’ mocking was worse than any death.

The much larger males were so intimidating, and so much stronger and with higher endurance. This Flight was not going in his favor. Except that Tienna seemed to like his shiny rock. And that he was doing his sharding hardest to keep up. A green tongue lolled out of the Blue’s mouth as his breaths came closer and closer in likeness to a canine’s pant. Suddenly, Tienna was turning towards them. Turning towards HIM. Oh Faranth, was this his time to die?!? He wasn’t ready, HE DIDN’T EVEN GET TO SAY GOO-

Oh.
OH.

Whiting was going to be much more relaxed around Drahaus for the next few sevendays.
