Summer, 18th Turn, 11th Pass

Upcoming Flights:
Green Jasmith

Upcoming Hatchings:
Red Cyanide

Slightly chilly spring days slowly but surely grow warmer as spring gives way to summer. Already the season is proving to be an unseasonably warm one, thankfully breezes have been common giving some relief. Dalibor's denizens can be found frequenting the Weyr's lake more often than in the season before, soaking up all of Rukbat's warm rays while they last.

Though not as common as the springtime there are lingering showers that come and go; thunderstorms are suddenly more common than they were in spring. Word is spreading that Fort Weyr has had an interesting outcome at their most recent hatching: An Orange broke shell and Impressed a genderneutral Candidate.

Lueke made a habit of rising early, though it was due more to an incessant craving for klah and an inability to sleep than any desire to be awake. He didn’t like having to coexist with the rest of the world, but since that was inevitable, and his insomnia too great, he always gave in and got up – usually well before the crack of dawn. At least the Weyr tended to be quiet before the daylight hours. Seeking to take advantage of that, the harper set out armed with his gitar and a mug of klah to find an uninhabited place to sit.

As it often did, that uninhabited place turned out to be a corner of the Bowl. It wasn’t true that he was invisible and inaudible here, but the big rocks scattered around at least gave the illusion that such was the case. Thankful for the privacy, however fleeting, the harper set himself down with his back to one of the rocks, his gitar across his lap. No matter where he sat, he was always painfully conscious of the fact that people could be passing by and might hear him. It was a stupid thing to worry about, since harpers were generally meant to be both seen and heard, but ironically enough, those were the two things that Lueke hated most.

All the same, he settled after a while into the rhythm of playing. Eventually people began to pass by, and hearing them made the harper edgy, with the result that he began to hit wrong notes and false chords. This was precisely why he would never make it to journeyman, Lueke concluded as he struck a jarringly bad chord and finally gave up. Ending the practice with a deep sigh and a sip of his cold, forgotten klah, the harper stood up, made his way out, and promptly crashed into someone passing by – with the end result that he, and possibly the poor unfortunate, ended up drenched in klah.

Oh great.

”I—I’m sorry…”

ooc// feel free to say that Lueke crashed into Ditre, or that Ditre watched the crash, or whatever! 8’D the world is thy oyster
