Welcome
Dalibor is a semi-canon Dragonriders of Pern site. No knowledge of the series or site is required to join; players of all experience levels are welcome here. Founded in 2008 on Proboards and moved to Jcink in 2013, Dalibor has been running for eight years.

News
Summer, 18th Turn, 11th Pass

Upcoming Flights:
Green Jasmith

Upcoming Hatchings:
Red Cyanide

Slightly chilly spring days slowly but surely grow warmer as spring gives way to summer. Already the season is proving to be an unseasonably warm one, thankfully breezes have been common giving some relief. Dalibor's denizens can be found frequenting the Weyr's lake more often than in the season before, soaking up all of Rukbat's warm rays while they last.

Though not as common as the springtime there are lingering showers that come and go; thunderstorms are suddenly more common than they were in spring. Word is spreading that Fort Weyr has had an interesting outcome at their most recent hatching: An Orange broke shell and Impressed a genderneutral Candidate.

This thread acts as a repository for any new Impression guidelines established on the staff forum, as well as changed or new rules. A "guideline" is what the staff uses to help manage Hatchings and other events, a "rule" is something that applies to everyone on the site. When a guideline or rule is decided, one of the Head Admins will add it here.

If you would like to make suggestions or need further clarification on a rule, please post in the Public Forum.

This is the format for rule reporting:

Guideline: Impression Hard Caps
Description: Currently there is a limitation applied to how many dragons/whers of each rank a particular player can have. This limitation applies separately to dragons and whers (except for Queens). It is unrelated to and unaffected by ranking pet (firelizard/pillie) ownership.
Source: Staff-determined

Hard Caps:

1 Queen (wher OR dragon)
1 King
1 Subqueen
1 Subking of each color
1 Sport of each color

Example:
Player A has a Queen dragon and a Subqueen wher. They cannot Impress another Queen of any species, but they could Impress a King dragon or wher, a Subqueen dragon, etc.

Player B has a Purple subking dragon. They could still Impress a Viridian and/or brown dragon.

Player C has a White Sport wher. They could still Impress a Gray Sport wher.

Player D has a King dragon. They cannot Impress another King dragon, but they can Impress a Queen or Subqueen dragon, or a King wher.

Rationale: The hard cap exists primarily to keep single players from accumulating too many ranking dragons (Kings/Queens), but also to keep single players from accumulating too many shinies (subqueens/subkings/mf)

Rule: Alternative to Nonclutching Flights/Runs for Subqueens and Sports
Description: In order to have additional Hatchings after their first, Subqueens and Sport must complete certain nonclutching Flight/Run requirements. This rule allows for non-Flight/Run threads to count for nonclutching requirements. It will be assumed that the nonclutching Flight occurs off-camera in proximity to the thread, but the player can allude to the Flight as much or as little as they want.

Nonclutching activities still need to be PMed to the staff as indicated on the Flight/Hatching Sign-Up page: http://daliborweyr.b1.jcink.com/index.php?showtopic=302
Source: Suggestion

Example:
Player A has a dragon that will be able to clutch after 3 nonclutching Flights. With the same intervals as regular Flights, Player A posts 3 threads featuring the dragon that are unrelated to Flight, and PMs these threads to the staff. These threads satisfy their nonclutching Flight activity requirements, and they can now schedule a Hatching after their next Flight.

Player B has a wher that will be able to clutch after 2 nonclutching Runs. Player B schedules 2 nonclutching Runs and these satisfy their nonclutching Run activity requirements, and they can now schedule a Hatching after their next Run.

Player C has a dragon that will be able to clutch after 2 nonclutching Flights. Player C decides to conduct one nonclutching Flight, and then at their next Flight interval, starts an unrelated thread featuring the dragon. Together these two threads satisfy their nonclutching Flight activity requirements, and they can now schedule a Hatching after their next Flight.

Rationale: This rule was added by suggestion, to give those players that may not wish to play out all nonclutching Flights alternative ways to meet their nonclutching Flight activity requirements. We still require some form of activity to ensure the player is active before their clutch-producing Flight.

Rule: Public Flight/Hatching Sign-Up Requests
Description: From this point on, all Flight and Hatching inquiries must be made on the Flight/Hatching Sign-Up page, not on AIM or any other messenger, or via PM. This includes questions from one player to another about sharing clutches, and general questions to the staff about sign-up opening and closing dates. No sign-up may be arranged or verified via private communication and staff should direct any such inquiries to be posted on the sign-up page.
Source: Suggestion

Example:
Player A would like to sign up for a Flight. They use the form on the Flight sign-up page and their Flight is added to the listing.

Player B notices Player C's hatching sign-up form indicates they are willing to share their clutch. They want to have their dragon share the Sands with Player C's dragon. To ask about this, Player B needs to post a message to Player C on the Flight sign-up page, NOT PM Player C or the staff. They can PM Player C to let them know they've left a message on the Flight sign-up page. Once the two players agree, Player B can post a hatching sign-up form and their hatching can be added to the listing beside Player C's hatching.

Player D wants to know when dragon hatching sign-ups will open, or if they can reserve a date way in the future when said sign-ups will possibly open. They need to ask these questions on the Flight sign-up thread, not via PM to the staff.

Rationale: Keeping all Flight- and especially Hatching-related sign-ups public will ensure that 1) all members are on the same page regarding sign-ups, 2) no one feels as though sign-up slots are being taken by PM before they are ever announced as being open to the public.

Rule: New Adoptable Announcements
Description: From this point on, any time new adoptable characters are marked by the staff, a static announcement will be added to the cbox banner for one week. New adoptable character names should be PMed to Ruin, Ivy, and Rii with a completed form which can be found on the Adoption page.
Source: Suggestion

Example:
n/a

Rationale: Sometimes new adoptables go unnoticed.

Rule: Adoptable Reserve Claim and Reserve Timetable
Description: You must post a reserve for a character on the adoptables thread prior to posting a WIP for that character. Two months after your reserve post is made, you must have a completed app approved or your reserve for the character will be removed, and there will be a 2-week cooldown before you can re-reserve. The only exception to this is for characters that require owner permission to reserve: in that case you must PM the owner first and have the owner post their permission on the adoptables thread for you, and your cooldown starts at that point.
Source: Staff-determined

Example:
Player A wants to adopt a greenrider that is not attached to any current player. Player A posts their reserve and completes the app, with any needed corrections, within 2 months.

Player B wants to adopt a bluehandler that is not attached to any current player. Player B starts an app but does not finish it after 2 months, so they lose their reserve and the app is removed. A copy of the app will be kept by the staff for Player B if they wish to re-reserve, but it will be 2 weeks before Player B can post a reserve for that character again.

Player C wanted to adopt a pinkrider that is attached to a current player. This character's listing in the adoptables list is marked *REQUIRES PERMISSION*. Player C must contact the pinkrider's owner, Player H, for permission. To give permission, Player H must post that they reserve the character to Player C for two months. Player C completes the app, with any needed corrections from Player H and the staff, within 2 months.

Rationale: Our previous policy allowed players to reserve until the next activity check, and reserve privately. The new policy is designed to keep players from squatting on characters without doing apps, and to make reservations apparent to all other players.

Rule: Recommended Process for Adopting a Character
Description: This is less a rule and more just a notice of information posted on the adoptables thread. It is re-posted here.

Adopting - An Example Process/Checklist
1. (IF REQUIRED) Follow any special instructions required to adopt this character, which may involve talking with staff, with a former owner, or with a player who has substantial input (such as the player of a romantic interest or family member). This also may include writing an audition post.
2. Make the adoptable reserve
3. Read the character's existing history
4. Check the Records to determine the character's current rank, if it matches up with the end of the history great, if not search the archives here and at http://daliborweyr.proboards.com/ to determine how they got there
5. Check the existing character history against the History of Dalibor ( http://daliborweyr.b1.jcink.com/index.php?showtopic=12 ) and if there are any major events missing from the history, decide how the character might have reacted and add the events to their history
6. Read other personal threads involving the character and take note of any recurring characters or themes - if a recurring character is played by a current player, contact them to see if they have any thoughts on the relationship between the two characters
7. Based on the character's revised history and any other information you have managed to acquire, rewrite the character's personality. This also applies to their bonded partner if they have one (make sure you check and see if their bonded partner has sired/laid any clutches, participated in any notable Runs/Flights, etc. Dragons and whers are characters too!)
8. If there is anything you are unsure about or are having trouble finding, ask the staff (PM all admins to get the quickest response)
9. All sections of an app must be rewritten, not simply added on to
10. When you have completed your app, don't forget to post beneath it that you are ready for review
Source: Staff-determined

Example:
n/a

Rationale: To adopt a character, their application must be completely rewritten. We believe that approaching the missing history of the character first will not only assist in rewriting, but that it will prove you have found a connection with the character and can keep both the spirit it was originally conceived with and any changes that have happened over time in mind.

Rule: Character Slot Allotment
Description: Each player is allowed 2 characters when they join. At 30 posts, one is allowed 4 characters. At 150 posts, one is allowed 6 characters. At 300 posts, one is allowed 8 characters. At 700 posts, one is allowed 10 characters. At 1200 posts, one is allowed 12 characters. At 1600 posts, one is allowed 14 characters. At 2000 posts, one is allowed 16 characters. Every 500 posts thereafter the character slot count increases by two (2) characters. Extra character slots can be bought in the Main Stall if you do not have the required number of posts. Administrators and moderators receive double the normal amount of slots.
Source: Staff-determined

Example: N/A

Rationale: Previously, OOC posts counted towards a member's post count for earned character slots. Since OOC posts no longer cause post count to increase, the requirements to earn new character slots has been adjusted relative to the average IC-to-OOC post ratio of our members.

Rule: Leadership Activity Requirements
Description: As of April 1, 2017, the following activity requirements are in place for leadership ranks. Characters holding specific ranks will need to meet these requirements to retain their rank. All of the below numbers are for a given activity period (the space of time between one activity check and the next, which is 6 months) and must span at least 2 of the 6 months.

Weyrwoman/Weyrleader (Jr & Sr) 6 posts
Alphahandler/Betahandler 6 posts
Weyrling-/Wherling-/Candidatemaster 6 posts
Wingleader/Prideleader 4 posts
Wingsecond/Pridesecond 4 posts
Lord/Lady Holder 4 posts

The above requirements will be reviewed each activity check. Members will be asked in their Activity Check post to include links to the correct number of posts. Failure to link the required number of posts falling within the span outlined above will result in the character being removed from that rank.

An officially posted hiatus will be accepted in place of ONE of a character's required posts.

Multi-character posts (i.e. posting multiple characters in the same post in hatchings, plots, feasts, etc) will count for each character included IF the character's section of the post is at least 150 words long.

Any post or partial post of sufficient length will count towards the number of posts needed to meet activity. However, players of characters in any leadership position are expected to post as needed by their role (for example, if tagged in a plot or event for a leadership reason).

Weyrlingmasters and wherlingmasters are expected to post one lesson per season, while attached to a class. Candidatemasters are expected to post one lesson OR candidate-based activity per season. These roles are critical in welcoming new members (who often begin with one or more candidates, who then become weyrlings and wherlings) and providing these characters with easily accessible places to explore and demonstrate what they're like and how they act.

If a player's character is consistently not meeting these expectations, staff reserves the right to remove the character's rank as has been necessary in the past.

Posting proof of meeting activity requirements for a role in an activity check will earn 50 marks per role met. Weyrlingmasters and wherlingmasters with a class who post a lesson for each season plus the graduation on time will receive a 300-mark completion bonus at their class's graduation. Weyrlingmasters and wherlingmasters receive classes on rotation to spread the wealth.

Source: Staff-determined

Example:

Period: April 1-Oct 1

Bennio, Jr Weyrwoman - 6 posts required

Bennio attends the senior queen's next hatching (April). She posts twice.
Bennio dances at the hatching feast (Also April). She posts once.
Bennio has a quiet picnic lunch by the lake (June). She posts three times.

The post count requirements for Bennio are now met. However, if there's also a plot in September and someone goes BENNIO, HELP I NEED YOU, the player still needs to hit the plot if at all possible.

Rationale: The leaders of Dalibor are incredibly important to ensuring activity happens in appropriate places. Having unavailable leaders has sometimes made it difficult to plan or progress plots and events, or stalled or discouraged players of candidates and weyrlings/wherlings.

Guideline: Face Claims
Description: Dalibor does not require and/or strictly enforce the use of face claims.

A maximum of two (2) characters may use the same play-by. It is recommended but not required that you try to differentiate appearances with an existing play-by at least a little.

Adoptables may or may not have a face claim chosen by a prior player. You may pick a different face for a character you're adopting, or keep the existing face. If changing or dropping the face claim, please notify us with current play-by to be removed if possible; it helps keep the claim list accurate.

A player may reserve a maximum of two (2) face claims at a time. Reserves expire after two weeks. There is a cooldown of two weeks after a reserve expires before a player can reserve that face again. This is to ensure face claims are being reserved only for characters that are expected to soon be in play.

All images of a face claim used on the boards must be appropriate for younger members/safe for work. No nudity, inappropriate language, graphic violence, etc.

Source: Staff-determined

Example: N/A

Rationale: There has been confusion and/or conflict in the past over face claims and face claim reserves. This is intended to set clearer expectations of how face claims are intended to be used on Dalibor.

Guideline: Lift on All Temporary Impression Bans
Description: The following temporary bans are lifted -

1) Impression of dragons by disabled characters (ex. deaf, mute, blind).
2) Impression of gender-specific dragons by other genders. This affects all gender-specific dragon colors: [female] gold, copper, orange, tan, red, [male] iron, bronze, viridian, brown, purple.
3) Impression of dragons and whers by characters outside the official Candidate age range (10-20 turns for dragons) (14+ turns for whers).

Any kind of "special" Impression will continue to be extremely rare, and require staff approval. Do not make characters with "special Impression only" preferences unless you are prepared for the overwhelming likelihood that they will end up not Impressing or Impressing in some way other than a special Impression.

edit to clarify staff position on kings/queens: The original text of the cross-Impression ban referred to all gender-specific dragon colors for the purpose of being comprehensive, so I repeated that text here. That said, there has never been a man Impressing a queen dragon or a woman Impressing a king dragon in Dalibor's history, and that is unlikely to change.

Rationale: These bans have been in place long enough!

Rule: Force-Catch Attempts Must Use Trigger Warnings
Description: Threads that contain force-catching (attempts by male dragons to grab the female dragon) or invite catching behavior must present a trigger warning in the subtitle, "force-catch ok". If you can't fit the warning in the subtitle due to the dragon/wher's name length, place it at the top of the first post.

The player of the male dragon must place a "tw: force-catch" at the top of their post as well.
Source: Suggestion

Example:
A player is okay with force-catch attempts in their female dragon's thread, they must use a trigger warning.
A female dragon asks the males to catch her, they must use a trigger warning.
A player playing a male dragon wants to post a force-catch attempt in a thread where the female's player has allowed attempts. They must use a trigger warning.
A player playing a male dragon wants to catch a female dragon in response to the female dragon's request. They must use a trigger warning.
(note: this applies to whers too, dragons are just the example)

Rationale: Force-catches or consensual behavior resembling them can trigger people. We do not want to limit RP, but in large public threads where many people may be reading or replying, members should have a chance to avoid this particular content if they want to. No other kinds of trigger warnings are currently required, though you may use them if you wish.

Rule: Time-Based Changes

Description: The passage of time on Dalibor has been slowed to 1.5:1 (2 months OOC = 1 IC Season) as of April 1, 2017. All dragons and whers are now sexually mature upon reaching 18 months.

Source: Discussion for time slow via poll.

Example: N/A

Rationale: OOC: Members and staff were finding the fast paced passage of time very pressing in regards to timing IC events as well as characters aging out of official candidacy quickly. To better facilitate daily roleplay as well as allow time for important IC events to be played out to completion a time slow was proposed and and passed. This plays hand in hand with the change to dragon and wher maturity and subsequent breeding put into play to prevent an exceedingly long OOC wait between hatching and sexual maturity.
IC: Weyrfolk are likely to attribute the increased flights and subsequent clutches to the irregular Threadfall that has plagued Pern since Doomfall. A change in Threadfall means a change in the dragons and whers that protect Pern from Thread.

Rule: Official Candidate Age Change

Description: 10-22 is the new age for official dragon candidates. Wher candidate age has also been changed, 14+.

Source: Staff-Determined

Example: N/A

Rationale: OOC: With the time slow in effect and the changes to dragon maturity and breeding it was decided that candidate age-ins and age-outs should be changed to allow for a more varied field of candidates for hatchrunners to choose from.
IC: With dragons and whers reaching maturity sooner and on an even scale due to the changes in Threadfall the ages for candidacy will be changed so there are always ample amounts of candidates for any given clutch.

Guideline: Clutching/Hatching Cooldown
Description: If you host a hatching (through the Flight/Run signups), you are required to wait one OOC year from the month of your hatching before you can host another hatching within that species.
Source: Staff-Determined

Example: If one of your whers has a clutch in October, you cannot host another wher clutch with any wher until the following October. However, you could still potentially host a dragon, firelizard, pillie or other pet hatching within that year.

Rationale: Previously, there were complicated rules surrounding how long you had to wait for an individual female to be ready to clutch again based on the size of a hatching. This aims to simplify sign-ups and level the playing field between people with multiple clutchers of the same species and those with just one of that species.

Guideline: Character Creation Forms to Include Color Preference and Personality Preference.
Description: When creating a candidate (both official and one considered for stands impression) players will now have two sections to complete if they so choose regarding the color of their prefered dragon or wher as well as the personality type they desire.
Source: Suggestion

Example:
Billy (whose player has a squeen already) is a dragon candidate.

Desired Color(s):
Gold > White > Yellow > Green > Cyan > Blue

Banned Colors(s):
Tan, orange, red, gray, copper, pink, black, or burgundy.

Preferred Personality:
Billy is looking for a dragon whose personality meshes well with his own. A dragon who falls in between an introvert and extrovert is fine - mildly social without going out of his/her way to try and bespeak every living thing.

Undesirable Personalities:
He does not want a dragon that will constantly question his decision making or push him outside of his comfort zone. A dragon that is rude, haughty, or far too demanding would not be a good match for Billy.

IC Considerations:
Billy loves his family and is currently DNI for family time.

Rationale: Allowing players the ability to say yes or no to colors as well as provide a space for what they feel their character would work best with personality wise (or what would absolutely not work personality wise) is very useful to hatchrunners when it comes to making good matches. Dalibor dragons run the gamut as far as personalities are concerned so simply putting a color preference does not always lead to a perfect match - nor does just putting a personality. Giving a space for both is useful to all players involved.

Guideline: Rationale Behind Dragon/Wher Impressions to Become Transparent
Description: Hatchrunners will now be required to add a small (or large if they so wish) bulletin to the dragon/wher they are impressing out sharing why they chose that specific character for the dragon/wher they created.
Source: Suggestion

Example:
Billy impressed a Blue hatchling but is slightly confused about why a Blue was chosen over a Green. The hatchrunner’s small ‘why’ blurb proceeds to draw parallels the hatchrunner saw in the Blue’s personality and Billy thus giving more insight to the kind of bond they will have. Upon seeing this Billy feels better able to connect to the Blue and to play Billy with his new Blue smoothly.

Rationale: Allowing for more transparency with hatchings will help ensure that solid choices are being made by hatchrunners as well as provide some more insight into the bond for the newly impressed player.

Rule/Guideline: Wherling and Weyrlings are now subject to activity.
Description: All Wherlings and Weyrlings are now required to participate in lessons to be eligible for graduation. The requirements are as follow: 1 Junior lesson post, and 1 Senior lesson post. If playing multiple Wherling or Weyrlings, all must be present in the post to count for activity (each Wh/Weyrling must have their own segment).

Should these posts not be made, the Wh/Weyrlings will be held back for the same amount of time as passes without the posts being completed.
Source: Suggestion

Example: Billy has the Weyrling B'lee of Blue Bith, and B'lly of Black Both. He posts once in the Junior lesson where B'lee learns how to butcher animals, he also posts B'lly being terrified of said animals and running away. A few months later he posts B'lee flying for the first time while B'lly falls out of the saddle while still on the ground. Both B'lee and B'lly graduate.

However Jeanni has Weyrling Jen of Green Jeth, she doesn't post and comes back six months after her Class graduates. Her Weyrling has been held back and has attended six further months of Weyrlinghood with the Class behind her, or solo with the Weyrlingmaster. She graduates upon completing her required posts.

Rationale: Wher/Weyrlingmasters are subject to strict activity but sometimes have little activity, whereas the Characters who are going on to RP as Dragonriders had no such requirement. Now, our Wh/Weyrlings will participate and be eligible to graduate based on merit.

Rule: Adoptable Character Slots
Description: Players will now accumulate a second set of character slots alongside their regular character slots to be used for adoptable characters.

Each player is permitted 2 character creation slots as well as 2 adoption slots.
At 30 posts the player receives 2 more of each slot (4 character creation/4 adoption).
At 150 posts the player receives 2 more of each slot (6 character creation/6 adoption).
At 300 posts the player receives 2 more of each slot (8 character creation/8 adoption)
At 700 posts the player receives 2 more of each slot (10 character creation/10 adoption)
At 1200 posts the player receives 2 more of each slot (12 character creation/12 adoption)
At 1600 posts the player receives 2 more of each slot (14 character creation/14 adoption)
At 2000 posts the player receives 2 more of each slot (16 character creation/16 adoption)
Every 500 posts thereafter the slots increase by 2 for both character creation and adoption slots.

Extra character slots can be bought in the Main Stall if you do not have the required number of posts. Administrators and moderators receive double the normal amount of slots.

Source: Staff-determined.

Example:

Player A joins Dalibor. They can create two characters completely their own, and adopt two characters from the adoptables list. At 30 posts, they get two more of each.

Player B has 300 posts. Their caps are 8 character creation slots, 8 adoption slots. All are full, but they want to adopt another character. They can purchase an additional adoption slot in the store.

Rationale: With the addition of adoptable-NPC's, it becomes more important that we place some limits on how many adoptables a player can have, and scaling it similarly to character creation makes the most sense.

Guideline: Created/Adopted Bondeds Do Not Impact Candidate Preferences
Description: A common preference seen currently and in the past is "No X color, I have X number of them." This has been used by players who have chosen to bring in or adopt multiples of that color. Staff will no longer enforce a preference of "No X color due to having one" if the Impression/bonding did not occur onsite to that player's character while in that player's possession. This includes both transfers and adoptables.

Source: Staff-determined.

Example: Player A Impresses two blues on site in two separate hatchings. They sets a preference for 'no blue, I just Impressed two in a row' on their next candidate. Staff will make sure hatchrunners are aware of this.

Player B adopts two greens and a cyan and transfers in a black and a blue. They set a preference on their candidate of 'no greens no blacks no cyans no blues I have them already'. Staff will not enforce this preference on a hatchrunner.

Rationale: This has been abused in the past to try and force Impressions to specific colors. If you have chosen to bring in a rider or handler of a specific color, you are implicitly agreeing that you still may Impress that color within that species; otherwise, it's extremely unfair to the hatchrunners. Keep in mind in general that the stricter your preferences are, the more difficult it is to Impress to your character and the longer you might be left standing.

Rule: Weyrlings and/or wherlings living in the barracks cannot pick up non-bonding non-adult pets.
Description: Weyrlings and/or wherlings living in the barracks will no longer be permitted to obtain non-bonding non-adult pets such as icehowlers, canines, felines, western felines, or any other pets that would need to be cared for regularly and/or trained. Adult pets already trained may be permitted with Weyrlingmaster approval (icehowlers and western felines are only obtainable as puppies/kittens due to training needs - they cannot be obtained as adults); ‘pets’ kept in the stables such as runners are permitted as these are mainly cared for by weyrfolk/drudges as well as candidates/weyrlings tending to them during chore rotations.
Source: Staff Determined

Example: Billy is a wherling living in the barracks. Though there is a rider giving away icehowler puppies Billy is unable to take one in and care for it; training a new puppy and caring for his young wher would be too much and is not permitted.

Rationale: While living in the barracks weyrlings and wherlings are chiefly responsible for the care and upkeep of their dragon or wher. Introducing a non-bonding pet to the mix would only disrupt their schedule which is almost entirely centered around the care for their dragon or wher. Non-bonding pets are typically dependant on their owner for care and training which is simply not going to be feasible during the first turn of a young dragon or wherling’s life.

Rule: Re-applying past characters.

Description: As of December 11, 2017, when a character is transferred out, after six months the character will no longer be able to be brought back into active play unless they are of a class or rank that any other player would be able to apply, i.e only the colors, crafts, etc. listed in those currently available for transfer, or during a transfer contest for which they qualify. You may transfer-back a character once; a second transfer out is final. Queen dragons and whers that are transferred out can never return.

Example:
Self-explanatory.

Source: Staff-determined.

Rationale: In the past, we've had considerable trouble with players wanting to bring back queens, kings, etc. that they once had and want again. These cause a lot of disruption for the site and penalize players that have been active in their absence, which is unfair.

Rule: Limits to Stands-Impressible Characters

Description: Characters that are marked as not official candidates but Impressible from the Stands will be considered at a separate, lower probability than official candidates for hatchings. At hatching time, Staff will random roll if the hatchrunner has the option of a Stands Impression. If a number of hatchings pass with no Stands Impression options, Staff will simply allot the option until it is used. Stands-Impressible characters can also be given the same chance as an official candidate by purchasing a token in the shop and applying it to that character. Characters that have been tokened do not count towards using a hatchrunner's Stands Impression option.

Example:

Player A has Boof, an official dragon candidate. At hatching time, he is considered as a dragon candidate along with all other official dragon and dual candidates.

Player B has Choof, a stands-Impressible character. At hatching time, he can ONLY be considered for a dragon/wher if the hatchrunner has been given the option of Stands-Impressing a character.

Player C has Dhoof, a stands-Impressible character. Player C buys a token and applies it to Dhoof. At hatching time, he is considered as a candidate along with all the official candidates.

Source: Player Suggestion.

Rationale: Although canonically extremely rare and in the history of Dalibor relatively uncommon, in more recent times Stands Impressions have become somewhat common, to the point that they're expected, rather than the special thing they're intended to be. This has expanded to the point that at the time of this posting, approximately 40% of Impressible characters (dragon, wher, and dual) are in the Stands. By implementing this suggestion, we do not rule out regular Stands Impression, but still make it uncommon again, while also giving the option for a player to up their chances similar to other tokens for rare Impressions.

Rule: Limits to Dragonless Characters

Description: Dragonless characters are those characters who were Impressed by a dragon, and then lost that dragon through an event (typically when the dragon is separated from the rider, as otherwise they would both go between). The canonical norm for these characters is for them to follow their dragon in death, but there have been a handful in Dalibor's history who have not done so. Due to the maturity and sensitivity required to play such a damaged character, a 1 year activity period is now required before Dragonless characters are eligible for re-Impression, as well as requiring a Stands Impression token for those Dragonless who wish to Impress a second dragon from the Stands.5

Example:

Player A has Andy, an official dragon candidate. He Impresses a dragon at the next hatching. Everything is great until Andy's dragon gets spooked and goes between solo and dies horrifically. Andy is a broken husk and now must wait 1.5 turns (1 ooc year) to be eligible to Impress again. He spends that time growing and working through his problems while Player A affixes a shiny Stands Impression token to him. After a year ooc Player A is ready to throw Andy at every dragon hatching that pops up.

Player B has Benny, a transfer Crafter. See Benny was a Weyrling at another Weyr a few turns ago, but lost his dragon pretty quick. It's been about six turns since the dragon died. Benny gets accepted at Dalibor, and Player B affixes a Stands Impression token to him, but is still required to roleplay the full 1 year for that sweet on-screen character development.

Player C has Chad, a transfer Dragonless who has been going from Hold to Hold to find his purpose. See, Chad is too old for dragons, but he still feels like something is missing after losing his long-time partner to a Flight gone wrong. Chad shows up at Dalibor and spends 1.5 turns getting to know everyone, he even joins the Wher Program after meeting the Alphahandler! Chad is eligible for wher bonding without a token once the 1 year ooc character growth time is complete.

Source: Staff-determined

Rationale: Although it is canonically, and historically, unlikely for a rider to outlive their dragon, a recent influx of Dragonless applications has required that Staff reconsider what is expected from such characters in regards to mature and sensitive gameplay. When suicide is, historically, the best possible outlook for these characters, it is important that a level of realism is maintained in their creation and roleplay. While there are currently no plans to limit Dragonless applications, Staff want to ensure that each player is fully committed and willing to play such a mature emotional arc, as well as give hatchrunners a chance to see the development of the character in order to properly re-Impress or re-Bond them.
