Winter, 18th Turn, 11th Pass
Winter is in full swing as the Northwest reaches the middle stages of the cold month, and Dalibor, taking full advantage of a crackdust filled break in Threadfall, is back at it again. Delving into the Southern ice and snow, they have paired with Grove Weyr to fully explore the lands they only slightly uncovered the previous turn during the Jungle Expedition. This, however, will not be a warm and relaxing waltz through the woods; although was it ever that to begin with?

*ADO*Serlie, Rider of White Ezaloth *Adopted*, Furyflyer Weyrling
Serlie (S-air-lee) [May go by Lee when she gets older]
Twelve turns [b. sp 05]
Not yet known
Tillek Hold --> High Reaches Weyr --> Dalibor
Serlie is a young child through and through and is still pretty naïve about the world. She doesn’t quite believe in the social norms. If someone has a dream, or a pretty big wish to be something Serlie believes that those wishes should be allowed to come true. If this girl wanted to be a boy, let them. If this dragon rider didn’t want to fight thread… okay you can be a baking team!! If she wants her mommy to be a daddy… well that’s the way it’s going to be. Plus she does call Amlie Daddy every so often as she interchanges the names. Since Serlie doesn’t have a stand in Dad there isn’t any reason why Amlie couldn’t be one too.
Like most children she’s pretty imaginative, and she loves to tell tall tales… especially if it involves her on some daring adventure with Eldath. For now she dreams of big adventures and a dragon of her very own, and she will most likely tell those she knows any story that’s at the top of her head. She loves flying, but between doesn’t sit too well with her. Even the thought of it unnerves her, people and dragons disappearing someplace dark and possibly scary? No.
Even with her tall tales, she’s not all that hyperactive… she’s the sort of child that doesn’t mind sitting in one place and listening. Sure her mind may wander but she isn’t the run around screaming type of kid. If her mind does wander, it’s on the back of her very own dragon, exploring the world! This child may or may not have selective hearing. If she wants to be called Lee for instance, she will not listen to anything else…
Believe it or not, Serlie isn’t actually all that forward with strangers… unless she knows who you are. If she’s meeting someone new, she’ll shy away pretty quickly. Whether that be behind momma’s leg or Eldath’s wing/snoot she won’t be inclined to say anything unless they try and coax her out – by her mum or otherwise.
She will eventually see that this isn’t the way the world works sometimes. It will be disheartening to hear that not everyone can fulfill their dreams but all she can do is stick to her guns and just be herself… and maybe encourage others to do the same.
Though she may put on a brave face and wish her mum luck day in and day out with thread fighting... she fears that one day she won't come back. That she will lose both Mother and Dragon in one sitting... and there won't be anything she can do about it. She is adamant that when she's "big enough" (she doesn't understand why she isn't right now) that she will do everything she can to help... even if that means setting aside her adventures. Its okay to have two dreams right?

This little munchkin is just a little on the short side, not by too much as all children grow differently. At the moment though she is just hitting the three foot mark, though with her personality she thinks she's a lot bigger than she is. Serlie is pretty thin, no not without the regular child baby fat, which won't disappear for at least another couple of turns. Even now you can see she will grow up with long legs, and possibly lean frame.
She definitely has her father's eyes whether or not that's to Amlie's liking. They are a deep green and her smile just brightens them up. Her hair is a very light brown, but as she grows it will darken up a bit (maybe with a bit of a red tinge too), but mainly it will stick around the brown color range. Her hair sits well below her shoulders, cropped at an even length save for her fringe, which is only a tad shorter for at least some shape. She normally doesn't like anything done with it, preferring to keep it down and left alone, though sometimes she can be talked into grooming it.
This child wears whatever she likes, and right now she's taken a liking to things that may look like premature riding leathers, or she's happy with anything of the sort. She could be in the mood for pretty dresses one day, and then the next decide she hates them and wants just pants. She loves hats of all shapes and sizes too, so watch your tuques folks!
Mother; Amlie of Blue Eldath
Father; S'iole of Green Gozukith
Age; Eight turns [b. sp 08]
Color; Pink [9a073b]
Personality; calm, stable, doting, quiet, loves pets or any physical attention.
Serlie was born in Tillek Hold to a very young couple. But unfortunately her father had denied all ties and denied that this child was even his. So Serlie was left in the care of a fairly young mother. Of course the child was too young to believe anything differently. For all the child knew she was around dragons all of her life, as her toddler ages slowly fade from memory. Her mother was searched by a dragon when she was only two, the most amazing thing in the child’s eyes, as she was without fear when faced with a big snout.
Serlie spent almost equal time in the crèche with the other weyrbrats and with her mum – when she wasn’t too busy with chores and such. Though Lee wasn’t against helping either, especially if she was able to see a dragon or two.
Though she doesn’t quite remember the details, she was at her Mother’s first hatching with a crechemother at age three. The child was pretty determined to watch all the baby dragons hatch… she didn’t understand the mechanics of it but it was pretty exciting nonetheless. If there was too much violence, she didn’t really understand it at the time… that or her eyes were firmly covered during those events.
But when Serlie met Eldath, it was pretty much love at first sight. Though Serlie couldn’t permanently live with her mom and hatchling, she was there fairly often when Eldath wasn’t in any danger of getting scared off. Serlie pretty much grew with the blue (though not as quickly, to the child’s disappointment) and she was delighted to help bathe the baby dragon…. When he wasn’t a mountain to her.
One day during a meal Serlie got caught in a fire lizard hatchling. They were described to her as pets who looked like miniature dragons, so of course she wanted to stay and watch. She may have secretly wanted one but she was just as happy watching. Not long after her mum had come get her a pretty pink flit landed right by Serlie and was politely asking for food, her little eyes fixed on the child. Serlie was beyond happy, and in that excitement she named the flit Eldy after her mother’s dragon. She even got to name Amlie’s acquired black… though she decided to call him Pink since that was what she saw in him.
Around the time she turned four the three of them (and flits!) transferred to Dalibor. Serlie was sad to leave those she left behind but… at the same time looked forward to see new things. She may have felt a little sad but she had Amlie, Eldath, Eldy and Pink with her – what more could she ask for, apart from more adventures of course!

Ezaloth [#d2ced9] - Impressed to Serlie (Raining)
Ezaloth is old. Not in age, of course, but in mind. An old soul. Some might just start to call him Grandragon if they find themselves witty enough. He would never mind anyway. Even from the moment of hatching it seemed as if this dragon had lived for an age. Everything comes naturally to him, he only needs to be shown how to do something once, and will excel to perfection. Yet he is endlessly curious as if amazed by the wonder of the world and everything that it holds. Though he may show bizarre and unnatural knowledge of something, as if it springs into his mind, he still must learn and grow into this new world.
Serlie can surely show him the way, and teach him how to stay hip and cool with the times. This isn't to say that Ezaloth has no humor, he finds many things funny--Serlie in particular, but he can be much like a child or elder. He can go from chiding his Rider on being proper one moment, to springing and sprinting and pouncing and causing pranks and some small forms of chaos. Then just as quickly he'll claim he needs a nap and fall into slumber in the sun.
Full of as much love as he is wisdom, Ezaloth was certainly drawn to Serlie for the sake of her boundless imagination. The White will sit for great lengths of time to listen to her stories, and might even take to requesting one every night if she isn't careful and doesn't temper his expectations. In many ways, Ezaloth can be far too wise for his own good, in some ways it is hard for him to 'think outside the box', he'll always rely on Serlie to see the other side of things, and she'll probably want to hear him out on his side as well.
When it comes to social settings, Ezaloth can waver between being the butterfly of the event, or the one sleeping on the couch snoring. He'll never turn down the chance to introduce himself and Serlie to another party, but once that's done he might somehow find his way into a bit of a nap. Just as quickly? He can be right back into the thick of it with a joke he learned from his Rider, or something he picked up from another dragon. You never can tell with this one. He will always be open to new people coming into their lives, whether it is pets, friends, maybe even someday family? He knows Serlie needs to rebuild what she once had, and he's the first piece of that puzzle. With all his love and wisdom, how can they fail?
Sometimes old and wizened, sometimes young and carefree, Ezaloth is always loyal, and he works smart--even if he doesn't always work hard. He will excel at lessons, but will also excel at anything he, or Serlie, chooses to do. Their path is not set in stone. While he will make an excellent Threadfighter and the instinct is there, should Serlie decide instead to pursue a Craft or something closer to home as a way to work for their Weyr, he will go on this grand adventure beside her without hesitation; carrying her if he must because, more than anything else, he believes in her and everything they can accomplish together.
Ezaloth, more than most Pernese dragons, seems as graceful and delicate as a prize Ruathan Runnerbeast. His shapely dished head sits neatly on a long sinuous neck, and his large eyes peer out with much interest at the world. The ridges of his neck are wide and sweeping, much like a mane, and the follow from the poll of his head to very near the tines of his forked tail.
His limbs are lanky, but muscled, and while he will never have great stamina like the largest of his kind, he will be a fleet flier, adept at weaving and moving within the grasp of the sky. His hide is mute for a White, but the ripples of every colour run beneath the dusky hue of his type. Sometimes he will appear blue-like in the shadows, or soft yellow in Rukbat's gaze.
Reaching an adult size of 18' he is at the maximum for his colour, a credit to his long limbs, broad wings, and lanky neck and tail. Though he may all at once appear wizened and slow, when overcome with a great joy or interest he will prance to and fro on those long limbs, or splay them out while dancing through the air.
Adult Length 18'
Serlie has been through a lot at Dalibor, and she's still managed to keep a brave face and an upbeat attitude. In a lot of ways, she and Ezaloth are different; he can seem wise and old at times, and she is youthful with so much to learn. However beneath the surface they are very similar. My hope is that they learn so much from one another; Serlie how to heal and find her place, and Ezaloth how to be young and enjoy the simple things.
