Benden Weyr > Western Hold > Dalibor WeyrRank:
Teral is a serious man, everything is serious business and he must act accordingly. He may take himself a bit too seriously at times and it's never really made him many friends. He's something of a perfectionist because of this and everything must be done just so
or it'll lend to a bit of a melt down. Some might call him a bit obsessive about it but Teral insists it should just be perfect. Why do a thing more than once when you can do it right the first time? On top of the seriousness, Teral is shy and has a rough time branching out to make new friends.
For all of his shy nature, Teral has a huge heart that is over flowing with the love he needs to give. Once you're his, you're his
. His family is important to him, his sister and brother right up there in the love department. He would do much for his siblings. Teral has a very defined idea of what is right and what is wrong. One could almost say that the man does not see in shades of grey but rather in shades of black and white. He believes in punishment for those who do wrong and a pat on the back for those who do right. He is firm in his belief that if you don't want to be punished than you should do right. It is quite possible that the only exceptions to this rule are his siblings.
Next to his siblings and Bam, Teral has an exceptionally strong love for the sea. The music it makes is one that can sooth any ill the man feels, it was his love of the sea that sent him into the fishcraft and which made him fall in love with Western and Dalibor. Appearance:
Teral stands around a steady 6' tall and is broad of shoulder with slender hips. He is well built from his time as a apprentice fisherman and his craft shows in the lines of his face. Teral is tending towards a premature graying seen in the scruff of his beard when he decides to grow one out. His seriousness is reflected in his manner of dress and it tends toward well maintained. He prefers not to look messy and it can be seen in his well brushed hair and cleanliness. Where his sister, Vessa, was given hazel colored eyes, Teral was given clear blue eyes. His jaw is strong and his cheekbones sharp and defined. Family:

Born inside the walls of Benden Weyr, though he was, Teral was not born to a pair of dragonriders. Instead his parents were simple weyrfolk, Salla who was an incredible cook and Vestral a journeyman vintner. He joined a sister, Vessa, and would later be joined by a brother, Sal. Life in a weyr was simple and fun and Teral lacked for nothing. He knew there were things happening around him, as much as a child could, but his parents chose to keep him and his siblings from the brunt of it, leaving them all unaware of the tragedies unfolding.
Safe within this blissful ignorance, Teral lived his first few years of life. Then something happened. Something tragic that couldn't be kept from them. Everyone was getting sick, a plague was whispered every where and people died, the most important of which was his mother. With a child's innocence, Teral understood what death was, understood that those who succumbed never came back home but he hadn't wanted to believe it of his own mother. He would ask every now and again when she would return until finally the creche women sat him down and explained fully his mother would never return. The knowledge of it turned a once carefree and happy boy into one who was quiet and reserved. It was by this time that Vestral had started leaving his children in the creche more and more, leaving the women there to finish their raising in his grief. The death of his mother and the distancing of his father created a need in Teral to have everything the way it should be. The way it was supposed to be and he hated being separated from his siblings.
The marriage of the lady dragonrider Irohvyne to D'lios brought about a change in their lives. Vestral decided to pack his family up and move them to Western. Teral was alright with that, the boy was growing and wanted to believe a change could help his father. He would be surrounded by his family in a new place so Teral held no fear of the unknown. But things would be a little different, for one Vessa would not be coming - at least not immediately - a normal attendance at a wher hatching, something they'd done plenty of times, saw his older sister impressed to a green. He couldn't say he was devastated, he wouldn't really. Who wanted to admit they were devastated by the absence of a sister? But Vessk gave Vessa something that they couldn't and Teral was happy for her no matter how sad he was she would not be joining them.
They left her there in the capable hands of the wherlingmaster and her Vessk, travelling to Western just in time for a terrible thing. The death of D'lios at the hands of a former Weyrwoman. It was odd to Teral that D'lios would be killed and by someone who had been a dragonrider herself, didn't they know better? It wasn't just the death of D'lios but his dragon as well. Fourteen turn old Teral was aghast at the possibilities.
During the next turn, Teral found that he loves the sea, the strength of the ocean and how the waves make music he's never been able to. His love of the sea is what turned his head to the fishcraft and as an apprentice he started to learn well what he needed in order to finish his craft. He loved it. Love the freedom and not so much freedom it gave him and he began to hone that small obsessive nature he possessed into something that might not be altogether healthy. Teral fought along side the rest during the palefolk invasion and he was quite awestruck at the ferocity of the whers of the hold.
They received word that Vessa would be transferring to Dalibor and Teral was over joyed. Everything would be better, Vessa would be closer and if he wanted - and could - Teral could visit to his hearts content. Mother Nature, however, had other plans and dumped a massive amount of snow on the weyr and hold before his sister could visit. It would be some time before Teral would be able to see her and when he did, he was
content. His sister was safe, happy and healthy. What more could he ask for? His father refused to allow him to go on the expedition to the palefolk tunnels. Teral quietly seethes but he does as he's told. He couldn't be saddened by the loss of life of those people, though. They'd done too much harm to hold and weyr for Teral to have any sympathy.
The odd fall patterns of thread culminated in one massive, insane storm. Teral, of course, was safe withing the confines of the hold but he knew people, animals and dragons died in this storm. He will never forget the sound of the dragons keening for the lost. It's haunting and terrible sound will carry with him for the rest of his life. Along with his friend Miridan, Teral assisted in the clean up of the hold, mourning the loss of so much life as he did so. Death for him now was not the same as death was for him when his mother died. He understood the finality of it now.
Lady Irohvyne is deposed and made to leave Western but it makes no difference to Teral, he continued his fishcraft education. It was right around this time that his father gifted Teral with his ferret Bam. The little creature was and still is a terror on four feet, a bit of chaos in the stoic and serious life of Teral. The man could use a bit of shaking up and Bam did just that.
For sometime, Teral had felt like something was missing and it wasn't just his sister. Maybe he could try for a wher too, Vessa impressed one and she hadn't even been a candidate! Maybe he could too. Vestral was not overjoyed at the prospect of his oldest son putting his craft on hold to chase a foolish dream but there wasn't much the man could do, Teral had reached his majority by then and had been given permission by his master to try.
Teral signed up just in time for Irohvye of Tuana to bring that wild clutch. He didn't impress there of course, but he had no doubts he would eventually. It was beginning to look like it might take several hatchings to impress, the next batch passed all but two candidates by and chose from the stands instead. He didn't mind it too much, though the disappointment had been there, a bright side was always available. He got to be closer to his sister after all, a very bright side indeed.
That bright side was almost taken from him and his sister nearly died during an expedition south. Some type of plague that took the lives of an alarming amount of the weyr population.
It was rough enough to think that Vessa had nearly died from that plague but to add insult to injury, Teral took sick as well. His illness wasn't nearly as devastating as it had been with Vessa but it was enough to make the formerly robust man, weak and spindly like a kitten. He was better now and excited to spend the next few months in lessons and standing for that chance to impress. Adoption Preference:
Preference given to Ivy to do with as she sees fit!Wher Name:

I don't really mind what Teral impresses. I'd rather see him impress based on fit rather just a color chase.Desired Colors
Something that compliments his serious and shy nature. Maybe a prankster or an outgoing wher. Undesirable Personalities
Namby, pamby. Nothing terrified of everything from its own shadow to the kitchen sink. Teral isn't the type who would do well with something he's going to have to coddle and protect every waking moment. In-Character Considerations
:Unless there is something absolutely wonderful for him in a recent hatch, please do not impress until Vatask's October hatch!Mauling Preferences
No mauling. Light scratches or scrapes but no out and out mauling.
